Who are you, and where did you come from?
Hi, my name is Joe. I make your skin care products. On the long and varied journey it took me to get from Cleveland to Seattle, for the second time mind you, I grew up traveling the world as a sound guy for concerts and such.
Sooooo, sound guy to skin care.... i don't get it?
Its all about the tireless pursuit to create release, escape and happiness for people. On the road it was about starting work at 8 or 9 in the morning, sometimes even 4 or 5 in the morning, to work all day to put in a show, to walk around the venue to each seat and make sure at each one, it sounded the same, to work on an effect for 4 hours, that might make up 3 seconds of a show.
Ethic doesn't change because it's skin care, it intensifies; instead of making thousands of people happy at once (including the band which is sometimes an impossibility), it involves making one person happy at a time. And if you're not happy, we'll do our best to change that. Just let us know what we can do.
Have you worked with anyone I have heard of?
If you listen to music, its a very good possibility...a very very good possibility.
Does that mean you can get me into shows?
Buy more stuff and we'll talk ;)
What's this Simple Apothecary business about?
Cory Michael is soon going to be Simple Apothecary. Depending on what side of the pond you're from, it could mean "Dumb Chemist" (pharmacist in American) which isn't too far off the truth ;), or a simple skin care remedy full of good for you fresh ingredients from the local apothecary (person or place) that makes it. We like the idea of being that for you.
What did you do with Cory and Jesseca?
Cory has moved on to making quality hand crafted products for another lovable species. We have been training intensely with Cory for the past year to learn us and make sure the transition goes smoothly. Although he is moving on to other things, he still plays a guiding role.
We work closely with Jesseca too. Although she is not in house anymore, she still incorporates our products into her amazing facial regimen which you can experience in Greenlake. Click on her Fresh Facials link to the left.
We can't exclude Patti at Earthly Rituals in Queen Anne either. She's amazing and has been working closely with us on reformulating a few of our products.
What are you actually doing to make this world a better place?
*We converted all of our cooktops to induction heating elements, which use less power, as well as direct what power it does use more efficiently to create heat in the pots instead of heating the thing to heat the pot. Its really crazy intriguing stuff I tell ya.
*We use The Stranger we are done reading to pack your shipments.
*We offer human powered local delivery to downtown Seattle and the Capitol Hill neighborhood (expanding soon). it also eliminates the need for a box and packing, and how ever many trips in a postal truck it takes to deliver a package locally.
*We are working on sourcing more glass and metal type containers, as they are more easily recycled and have less of a chance of adding to the Texas-sized island of plastic in the Pacific. Plus they look prettier.
*We use public transport, bicycles, and Zipcar.
Why does my bottle/label/container look different than the picture on the website?
In working through the rebrand, we are going through all of our old stock containers and labels since most likely none of them will be used when the rebrand is complete. it would be a shame and against our mission to have to throw them out just because they don't look like the picture on the site.
